Guatemala has the fourth highest malnutrition rate in the world and the highest malnutrition rate in Latin America. Malnutrition can stunt growth and cause developmental problems and other health problems such as heart disease, diabetes and kidney damage. The main goal of our children’s and prenatal vitamin programs is to decrease malnutrition in Guatemala to help these individuals reach their full potential. We have been able to improve the lives and health of thousands of women and children who participate in our vitamin programs. Women who participate in our prenatal vitamin program report feeling stronger and are producing more nutritious breast milk. Kids in our children’s vitamin program are doing better developmentally and are able to focus more in school according to their teachers.
